Ginger Rue’s “Brand New Emily”. A book full of drama
Brand New Emily , by Ginger Rue is full of drama. This is what the book delivers. With just a little bit of romance.
Brand New Emily, a book by Ginger Rue is about a girl named Emily whose mom died when she was little. She and her father decided to move back to be closer to her uncle. At the new school she attends she is bullied repeatedly by a group of mean girls called the Daisies. She is so tired of being pushed around by them and everyone else, so she decides to improve her self with a little help from a top PR firm. She wants to become like the group of girls that she is trying to defeat. Brand New Emily is an engaging book written for young adults with a sense of romance and wanting to belong.
I loved this book and found myself not being able to put it down. This novel is told in first person so you can really understand what she’s going through and for certain people relate to her.
I really enjoy the plot of the book because it grabbed my attention and made me want to keep reading. It’s a perfect mix of drama and romance. I definitely love the writing style because it keeps me wondering what will happen next. It makes me want to skip ahead and see what happens next. “have you ever seen Marcita Diaz?” “no” “Then how do you know it wasn't her?” (145)This is very mysterious and keeps you wondering who it really was. She is extremely descriptive in her writing. You can really tell how someone is feeling, or what someone looks like. “His jeans had holes in the knees and hung loosely below his waist” (36)
Brand New Emily is a chick flick that the ordinary girl would love. It has a hint of romance, drama, and a sad backstory. I would recommend this book to all girl. It’s a book you can really get into.
