The game knows so much about Nick's life because somehow the messenger is watching Nick through the computer. The counterargument is that someone could disagree with the reason the messenger knows so much. In the book Erebos, a computer games knows about peoples personal life.
In the beggining of the book, the game knew when he wasnt given his real name. "Simon White." "I said your real name." (38). Later in the book the messenger gives Nick a t-shirt that only Nick and his brother Finn knew about. "The only people who knew about the t-shirt were Finn and himself, and Nick was absolutely certain he hadn't breathed a word to the messenger".(84.) The game continues to find out more about nicks life and Nick starts to get suspicious. The game knows so much about your personal life because it is watching you threw the computer. It's a game. It watches you.
